Soon, Very Soon.

In the quiet moments before His departure, Jesus gathered His disciples close, His eyes filled with love and reassurance. He knew their hearts were troubled, their minds struggling to grasp what was to come. And so, with the tenderness of a loving Savior, He spoke words that would echo through the ages, words that would become a source of hope for all who longed for His presence:

“In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself. This is that where I am, there you may be also.” (John 14:2-3)

What a breathtaking promise! The Son of God, who walked among us, shared in our joys and sorrows, assures us that this life is not the end. A place is waiting for those who follow Him beyond this world, a place crafted with love by His own hands. This is not the distant dream of an uncertain future, but a steadfast reality, anchored in God’s heart.

Jesus was not merely offering comfort to His disciples that night; He revealed a divine truth that would sustain generations of believers. The separation they feared was only temporary, for He would return. Death would not break His love for them. Instead, He would come again, gathering His own to Himself, so they would never be apart from Him.

As we wait for that glorious day, we are reminded that God’s timing is not like ours. The apostle Peter later wrote, “With the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.” (2 Peter 3:8) What seems long to us is but a moment in eternity. Just as Christ rose on the third day, so too will His people rise when the appointed time comes. The wait may feel long, but in God’s complete plan, it is only a breath away.

This promise transforms our mourning into expectation, our sorrow into joy. When we lay a loved one to rest, we do not say goodbye forever—we say, “Until we meet again.” For Christ has already secured the victory over death, and those who belong to Him will one day awaken to a life that never ends.

John 14:2-3 is not just a scripture passage-it is a love story. The greatest love story ever told. A story of a Savior who could not bear to leave His beloved without hope. A story of a bridegroom preparing a place for His bride, eagerly awaiting the moment He brings her home. A story of unwavering faithfulness, of love that crosses time and space, until at last, we stand in His presence, fully known, fully loved, and forever His.

So we wait, not in despair, but in joyful anticipation. For the One who promised is faithful. And soon, very soon, the trumpet will sound, the heavens will open, and our King will come for us. And in that moment, all sorrow will vanish, all tears will be wiped away, and we will step into the home He has prepared—where love reigns, where joy never fades, and where we will dwell with Him for eternity.

What a glorious day that will be!
