Chapter Three
A Call to Look Up
The Signs of the Times: Heaven’s Trumpet Call to the Church
Beloved, as we embark on this sacred journey through the pages of Scripture, let our hearts be ignited by the urgency and profound clarity with which our Lord Jesus Christ spoke about the end of the age. In His infinite love and divine wisdom, He has not left us in ignorance or unprepared for the trials and triumphs that lie ahead. Instead, He has graciously provided us with unmistakable indicators, divine signposts illuminating the road of history, to awaken and equip His people for the days that are unfolding before us.
In the hallowed texts of Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21, Jesus Himself unveils a prophetic blueprint for the final chapter of this present age. He warns us of wars and rumors of wars, conflicts that shake nations and unsettle the hearts of men (Matt. 24:6–7). He tells of kingdoms rising against kingdoms, nations against nations, a world in turmoil where earthly powers clash and chaos abounds (Mark 13:8). He speaks of famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in diverse places. Creation itself groaning as it awaits redemption (Luke 21:11). Yet, the Master’s words press deeper still. He reveals a dramatic increase in lawlessness and a grievous falling away, as many hearts grow cold and deception stalks the land (Matt. 24:12; 2 Thess. 2:3).
Amidst this chaos, however, there shines a radiant hope: the global proclamation of the Gospel, the clarion call of salvation, will resound to every tribe, tongue, and nation, serving as a testimony to all peoples before the end comes (Matt. 24:14; Rev. 14:6–7).
But let us not overlook the cost that Jesus so candidly warned us about. He promised that persecution would come to His Church; those betrayals, trials, and the rise of false Christs would seek to shake our faith (Matt. 24:9–11; Mark 13:9–13). In this crucible of testing, He calls us not to fear, but to stand firm, rooted and grounded in the unshakable love and truth of our God.
Let us be clear: these signs are not given to cast us into despair. No! They are heaven’s trumpet call to alertness, a summons to watch and pray with burning hearts (Mark 13:33–37). For every sign we see is a reminder that our redemption draws ever nearer, and that the King is at the door!
So, dear reader, let us lift our eyes to the heavens, strengthen our hands for the work ahead, and press on with holy fervor. The Spirit is moving, and the Bridegroom is coming soon! Let us be found awake, faithful, and full of hope, shining as lights in a darkening world, ready to welcome our Lord in glory!
The Rapture: “Caught Up” to Meet Our Glorious King
Let your heart be stirred with anticipation, for the Word of God proclaims a breathtaking promise, a divine rescue and gathering of all who are in Christ Jesus! This is not merely a doctrine to be studied, but a living hope designed to ignite our very souls. The Holy Spirit Himself bears witness through the Scriptures, assuring us that the Lord will not leave His Bride to face wrath but will call us upward to Himself in a moment of unspeakable joy!
The Apostle Paul, inspired by the Spirit, declares in 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17: “For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus, we shall always be with the Lord.”
What a triumphant homecoming that will be! The graves will yield their faithful, the living will be transformed, and together we will rise to meet the Lover of our souls. This is not a fantasy; this is the blessed hope for every believer!
Jesus Himself comforts us in John 14:1–3, speaking words that echo through the ages: “Let not your heart be troubled… I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” His promise is deeply personal. He will come for you, dear reader! The King of glory has prepared a place for you, and He longs to gather His children home.
Paul further reveals in 1 Corinthians 15:51–52: “Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet.” Can you sense the urgency? The expectancy? The Rapture is imminent; it could happen at any moment! Jesus Himself warned, “No one knows the day or the hour” (Matthew 24:36). Only the Father knows the appointed time. Therefore, the Spirit calls us to live in readiness, our lamps burning bright, our hearts steadfast in faith.
Are you watching? Are you prepared to meet Him? Let us not be distracted by the cares of this world but fix our gaze heavenward, listening for the trumpet’s call. The Bridegroom is coming for His Bride! Let hope arise within you; let faith be rekindled; let your life be marked by holy anticipation. For soon, and very soon, we will be caught up to meet our Lord in the air, and so we shall ever be with Him!
Even so, come, Lord Jesus!
Exhortation to Watchfulness and Prayer
As we navigate these final days, the clarion call of our Lord resounds with increasing urgency: “Be watchful! Be ready!” The coming of Christ draws nearer with every heartbeat, and the Holy Spirit beckons us to live as those expectantly awaiting the return of the Bridegroom. Let us not slumber in spiritual complacency, but awake with hearts ablaze, vigilant in faith and fervent in prayer.
Stay Awake Spiritually
Let us heed the words of Jesus, who warned, “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come” (Matthew 24:42). The Apostle Paul echoes this call: “So then, let us not sleep, as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober” (1 Thessalonians 5:6). The world may drift into darkness, but we are children of the light! Let us shake off spiritual lethargy and fix our eyes on the Author and Finisher of our faith.
Clothe Yourself in Readiness
Jesus instructs us, “Let your waist be girded and your lamps burning” (Luke 12:35). Just as the wise virgins kept their lamps full of oil (Matthew 25:1–13), we too must tend to the flame of devotion within our souls. Gird your loins with truth; wrap yourself in the armor of God. Be ready at any moment, for our King may appear in glory!
Pray Without Ceasing
Prayer is the lifeblood of a watchful believer. Paul exhorts us: “Pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17). Jesus Himself admonished, “Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things” (Luke 21:36). Let our lives be saturated in prayer, our lips ever offering praise and petition, our spirits ever communing with the Almighty.
Abide in Christ.
Be Found Faithful
Above all, remain in intimate fellowship with Jesus. He declares, “Abide in Me, and I in you… for apart from Me you can do nothing” (John 15:4–6). Whether He comes at midnight or at the break of dawn, may He find us faithful, steadfast, and full of hope. “Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life” (Revelation 2:10).
Dear reader, let us press on with holy expectancy, our hearts tuned to heaven’s song. May the Spirit empower us to live as vigilant watchmen, steadfast in prayer, clothed in readiness, and abiding ever deeper in Christ so that when He appears, we may rejoice at His glorious coming!
A Solemn Warning to the Unprepared
Beloved, let us heed the words of our Savior, who in His infinite wisdom and tender love for our souls, painted the parable of the ten virgins (Matthew 25:1–13). Jesus illustrates a vivid scene: ten awaited the Bridegroom, but only five were prepared. Only the wise, those who kept their lamps burning with oil, entered the joy of the wedding feast. The foolish, though outwardly similar, lacked vital supply. When the Bridegroom finally arrived, their absence of oil left them scrambling, knocking on a door that would not open. Oh, what a poignant warning to every generation!
Let us not deceive ourselves. It is possible to carry the lamp of religion, attending church, singing hymns, performing good deeds, yet lacking the burning oil of the Holy Spirit within. The true fire that sustains us, that lights our path and keeps us watchful through the midnight hour, is not found in mere human effort. It is the Holy Spirit Himself, our Comforter, Teacher, and the very seal of our redemption! Without His indwelling presence, our lamps will flicker and die, and we will find ourselves outside, hearing the chilling words, “I do not know you.”
Hear the loving urgency in Christ’s voice! This is not a call to fear but a call to awaken! To seek, to ask, to receive the fullness of His Spirit today! Let us not be content with the appearance of godliness, but let us press in for the real, transforming fire that only God can ignite.
Moreover, the Lord’s message to the church at Philadelphia in Revelation 3:10–11 resounds through the ages: “Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial… Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown.” Brothers and sisters, there is a prize to be gained and a crown that can be lost. We are urged to stand firm, to treasure what God has entrusted to us, to let nothing steal our devotion, our purity, or our hope.
And let us shudder at the sobering words spoken to the lukewarm in Revelation 3:16: “Because you are lukewarm, neither hot nor cold, I will vomit you out of My mouth.” How grievous it must be to the Lord when we settle for a half-hearted faith, content to drift and compromise with the world! He desires a person burning with holy zeal, ablaze with love for Him, a people so filled with His Spirit that the world cannot help but take notice.
Friend, midnight is upon us. The cry has gone out: “Behold, the Bridegroom is coming!” Will your lamp be burning? Will your heart be ready? Now is the time to seek the fullness of the Holy Spirit, to surrender every part of your life, and to step boldly into the destiny He has prepared for you. Do not delay! The door is open now. Come, be filled afresh, and let your light shine for His glory!
The Day of the Lord: Judgments and Glory
Oh, how awesome and sobering the revelation of the Day of the Lord! As the Holy Spirit whispers truth into our hearts, we are compelled to look beyond the veil of the present and see the unfolding of God’s righteous plan. After the glorious catching away of the Bride, the Rapture of the Church, Scripture unveils a time of great shaking upon the earth, a season where the wrath of God is poured out upon all ungodliness. These are the tribulation judgments so vividly depicted in Revelation chapters 6 through 19. Yet, beloved, let us not tremble in fear, for the children of God are not appointed to wrath but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ!
While the world reels under the weight of justice long delayed, the redeemed shall be gathered to the greatest celebration ever known, the marriage supper of the Lamb (Revelation 19:7–9). Can you imagine it? All the saints, clothed in fine linen, pure and bright, rejoicing before the Lamb who was slain, now exalted as our Bridegroom! The joy, the love, the unity of the redeemed in the presence of our Savior, this is our destiny, our blessed hope.
But the story does not end there. The heavens will open and behold, a white horse! Upon it rides Faithful and True, our mighty King Jesus returning in glory (Revelation 19:11–16). With eyes like flames of fire and crowns upon His head, He comes to judge and to make war, to establish justice and righteousness upon the earth. He is the King of kings and Lord of lords, and every knee shall bow before Him.
Paul, inspired by the Spirit, writes in 2 Thessalonians 1:7–10 of that day when the Lord Jesus will be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, giving relief to His people and executing judgment on those who rejected His grace. For the believer, it is a day of unspeakable comfort and deliverance, a day when every wrong is made right and every tear is wiped away. For the unbeliever, it is a day of reckoning, a sober call to repentance while there is still time.
And Jesus Himself describes in Matthew 25:31–46 the final, irrevocable separation of the sheep from the goats. Before His glorious throne, all nations will be gathered, and each soul will face the searching gaze of Love incarnate. To the righteous, He will say, “Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you.” But to those who rejected His mercy, only the sorrow of eternal separation remains.
Beloved, let us live considering these truths! The Day of the Lord is not merely a doctrine to be studied; it is a trumpet call to holiness, to hope, to urgent love for the lost. May the Holy Spirit awaken us to the glory that is coming and the solemnity of the hour. Let us be found faithful, watching and waiting, our lamps burning bright with the oil of His presence, ready to meet our glorious King!
Living in Holiness and Expectation
Beloved, we are living in remarkable times. The Word of God resounds with an urgent call: “The day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night” (1 Thessalonians 5:2; 2 Peter 3:10). This truth is not meant to instill fear but to awaken our spirits to the precious reality that Jesus could return at any moment! How, then, shall we live in the light of His soon coming?
The answer is clear: We must pursue holiness with all our hearts and walk in godliness every single day. The apostle Peter exhorts us in 2 Peter 3:11–14, “Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God…? Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless.” Let these words sink deep into your soul; God is calling us to be set apart, to shine as lights in a dark world, to be found ready and radiant when He appears!
We are not called to walk this path alone. The writer to the Hebrews urges us, “Let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together… but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching” (Hebrews 10:24–25). Dear friends, in these last days, community and encouragement are more vital than ever. We need each other! Let us gather, pray, and spur one another on, pressing forward together in faith and love.
And as we await the return of our Lord, let us remember the words of Paul to Titus: “For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ” (Titus 2:11–13). What glorious hope we have! Our anticipation is not passive; it is active, shaping every thought, word, and deed. The Holy Spirit empowers us to live uprightly, to say no to sin, and to radiate Christ’s love as we eagerly await His return.
Let us rise, holy and expectant, clothed in the righteousness of Christ, our lamps burning bright. May we be a people ready and watching, hearts ablaze with the hope of His coming, living every moment in the fullness of the Spirit. The King is coming; let us be found faithful!
The Urgent Call to the Lost
Beloved soul, if you are reading these words and have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, I implore you, do not let this moment slip away. The Holy Spirit is reaching out to you right now, drawing your heart toward the Savior. Today, this very moment, could be the appointed hour of your salvation. As the apostle Paul declared by the Spirit, “Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation!” (2 Corinthians 6:2).
Hear the voice of love that calls to you! Jesus Christ, the Son of God, stepped down from heaven’s glory and endured the Cross for you. He loves you more deeply than words can express. Listen to the echo of His promise: John 3:16–17: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” His arms are open wide, ready to draw you into His embrace. But to receive this gift, you must turn from your old ways, repent and believe. The Scriptures urge us: Acts 3:19: “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.”
There is no sin too dark, no past too broken, that His grace cannot redeem. If you will confess Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved: Romans 10:9–10: “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
Friend, do not harden your heart. The call of Jesus is urgent, and the time is short. The Master stands at the door; He is coming soon! Do not delay. Respond to His invitation. Let today be the day you pass from death to life, from darkness to light, from fear to unshakable hope. The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come!” Surrender now and enter the joy and peace of knowing Christ. Eternity awaits your answer.
Conclusion: Be Ready, Always
Beloved brothers and sisters, as I write these words, I sense the stirring of the Holy Spirit deep within my soul. The great clock of prophecy is not silent; it resounds, echoing across the ages, growing ever louder with each heartbeat of creation. The hourglass of this world’s story trickles toward its appointed end, and the King is at the very door!
Our Lord Jesus Himself, full of compassion and truth, called us to vigilance: “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming” (Matthew 25:13). This is not a suggestion but a divine summons, a clarion call for every child of God to live with expectancy, with lamps burning bright and hearts ablaze for our Bridegroom’s return.
Be ready! This is heaven’s urgent cry to the Church in every generation. Ready to be called upward, ready to behold Him face to face, ready to lay aside every earthly weight and enter the joy prepared for those who love His appearing. The trumpet will sound, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet! (1 Corinthians 15:52). Will you be among those who rise to meet Him in glory?
Let us listen closely to the Spirit’s voice, both warning and comforting us in these final days:
“Behold, I am coming quickly. Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book” (Revelation 22:7).
And again, with loving urgency: “Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to everyone according to his work” (Revelation 22:12).
Do you hear His footsteps on the threshold of eternity? Today could be the day when all history bends to its knees and the King of kings steps forth in majesty! Therefore, set your hearts and minds on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God (Colossians 3:1–2). Let your prayers ascend like incense, fervent, unwavering, fueled by the Spirit’s fire. Watch with holy diligence. Walk in purity, clothed in the righteousness of Christ. Let your life shine as a beacon, carrying the torch of the Gospel into a world shrouded in night.
For soon, and very soon, the cry will resound through the heavens: “Behold, the Bridegroom comes!” (Matthew 25:6). Will you be found ready, your lamp filled with oil, your heart steadfast in faith, your hands busy with the Master’s work? Oh, what joy awaits those who are prepared! We shall rejoice evermore in the presence of the One who loved us and gave Himself for us (1 Thessalonians 5:16).
Even so, come, Lord Jesus! (Revelation 22:20)
